The ultimate Garfield book!

I was ecstatic to open the first volume of 'Garfield Fat Cat 3-Pack' this Christmas. I had all the pocket sized comic strip books as a kid, and Jim Davis' comic strip can still make me smile.This volume combines the first three Garfield books: 'Garfield At Large', 'Garfield Gains Weight' and 'Garfield Bigger Than Life'. All three titles (which may be bought separately) have been given a great new look, and all the strips have been printed in colour and not black and white. As all the strips are in chronological order, the reader is able to follow Garfield's adventures from his debut in June 19, 1978 to March 30, 1980.The beauty of this is that not only are you able to own all of Garfield's earliest strips, you can also view the progress in the strip, how Garfield's design began to gradually change, to share his first birthday, Christmas, his first taste of dreaded Mondays, the first appearances of characters like Odie, Lyman (Odie's original owner), Pookie (Garfield's teddy bear) and Nermal the kitten. I had forgotten how funny these cartoons are, and it's not difficult to see why why the comic strip is still going strong today. As well as the strips, there are a few added extras, like a 'How to Draw Garfield' feature, an interview with Jim Davis and a humorous question and answers session with the feline himself.I really couldn't have asked for a better Garfield book, it takes you right back to the beginning, and the witty dialogue is still as fresh and funny today.

Two Stories: christmas & Haunted House

Can you ever go wrong with Garfield? Here we have two cute stories. First, the title story is a joyful Christmas story in which Garfield, Jon and the gang learn about the homeless and stray pets, with a heartwarming end. This is followed with a short where Jon stays in a house haunted by a ghost cat to get some quiet while working. Garfield helps the ghost make John believe in ghost cats to set the spirit free. Lots of fun.
