Good quality, but may need parental guidance.

I would like to say first that this is a nice high quality product in terms of the book - it's a solid hardback sketch pad and it arrived on time, and the figures are good for designing in that they are light and don't show when you copy the image.However, particularly as someone who bought it to help me draw figures as much as clothes, I was honestly shocked by some of the body image shapes inside this book. I'm a UK size 6 (US size 2) and every figure in that book is significantly thinner than me. Some of them look so dangerously anorexic that frankly, if I had given this to a child or teenager, I would have had to sit them down and tell them that normal people are not shaped like that.In the book's defence, the first page of the book does acknowledge that the designs are of 'fantastical dimensions and exaggerated height' because this is 'in vogue for the time period'. But it also describes this shape as being a 'body ideal'. The figures in this book are not a body ideal; frankly, they would make a terminal cancer sufferer look fat.So long as young designers using it understand this, then fair enough. But it would have been a much better product, both practically for designing clothes a real person might wear, and ethically for a product marketed at young girls, if the figures were closer to healthy proportions.

Great value product!

After falling in love with the idea of designing my own clothes, I realised I would need a helping hand with the fashion standard croquis template, since I'm not a natural artist. I stumbled upon this fashion sketchpad and was really glad that I did.The book has a handy spiral top to help keep it open at your current page, and as well as sporting a number of fashion poses within it's 420 figure templates, also has some handy hints on materials and other fashion must-knows at the beginning of the book.For the price, this product is definitely worth it but I've dropped it a star due to the fact that the templates are printed on both sides of the paper. This means that colouring in the designs with a heavier marker pen will seep through the paper leaving the other side of the template useless. This is a small niggle for me, and wouldn't be an issue for people designing in pencil or lighter inked pens. Apart from this, the quality of the paper is great, and I'd highly recommend this item to people wanting to get into drawing their own fashion designs.

This book inspires an individual's creativity. With various poses to work your designs, this book is for a 10 year old plus. A must have for a fashion designer!
