One of his best

I had this book for quite a while before reading it, more fool me. In parts it reminds me of IT, my favourite Stephen King book, and Needless Things, another great story. This book however is a cut above almost anything you may read, by any author. Bet you can tell I liked this one.

Not very good I'm afraid.

Now, like a lot of people I like a good Stephen King book. I've been reading them since the early 80s. I'm a big fan of Salems Lot, Christine, The Green Mile, and my own personal favourite, It.I'm afraid this book, Duma Key, doesn't rank with my old favourites in my opinion. I read it all the way through, all 600 plus pages. This is not a short read. I hoped throughout that it would improve as there was a lot of conversation between the main characters but very little else. The final 100 pages was where the horror finally started but even that was a damp Squib, with little explanation as to what it was all about. I don't wish to give away the ending but there wasn't much tension.All in all a disappointing read from Stephen King. I thought that I had read his worst with Dreamcatcher but this is worse and how it picked up the Bram Stoker award escapes me. The only reason I gave it three stars instead of two is because I just couldn't mark Stephen King so low.

Buy this, you'll be ok!

I have read almost all of SKs books, and this is one of my favourites, along with the Stand, and the one where aliens come out of people's behinds. Anyway, this is a great read, a slow burner, but a page turner at the same time.I get really irritated when people describe the plot in reviews.
