"Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?" -- Amos 3:3 (NKJV)As Storm Warning opens, Amy and Dan Cahill and their au pair, Nellie Gomez, and cat, Saladin, are looking for clues to the hunt for worldwide power that might have been connected to a long deceased ancestor, the pirate Anne Bonney, who bore a remarkable resemblance to Amy's and Dan's deceased mother. Since the hunt for the 39 clues began, Amy and Dan have been warned to trust no one, and that has been good advice. As their skepticism has grown, however, some of the other characters have proven themselves willing to be helpful on occasion. How should Amy and Dan decide when and who to trust? That's a core theme of this installment in this entertaining series of adventure stories.A number of the earlier books didn't advance the overall plot nearly as much as they taught a little geography and history while the Cahills tore around the world looking for clues. Storm Warning is a nice change of pace in that plot development for the series takes a giant step forward by the end of the book. Shh! I can't say a word about what happens. There's a nice balance in Storm Warning between the siblings and how they relate to one another and to Nellie. This book doesn't have some of the annoying characteristics of some earlier books where one or the other was annoying or didn't play much of a role in the plot.I left the book more excited to read the next one than I have been after any earlier book in the series. Although I'm not trying to compete to find the 39 clues, I'm certainly enjoying the story as shared in the book series. Are you ready to chart an independent course? This book will encourage you.

Amy and Dan have become quite suspicious of their au pair, Nellie. While traveling to the Caribbean for the next part of the hunt, they force Nellie into telling them the truth about her secret conversations. As much as it pains Nellie, she only tells them part of it. She's been working for Mr. McIntyre because Grace hired her. Grace wanted to be sure Amy and Dan could take part in the hunt, as they needed a chaperon. All this time, Nellie's been reporting back to Mr. McIntyre.Amy and Dan can't believe what they're hearing. How could they have trusted her? Now, they realize that they can't trust anybody, except themselves. While in Jamaica, they find a significant piece of a clue. With a little bit of research, they uncover knowledge of pirates with Cahill loot. Directly after their research find, Nellie's forced to visit a woman who wants to speak with her. Nellie and her charges are in for a shock. Grace influenced her life in ways she never imagined - more than just hand-picking her as Amy and Dan's au pair. With this new knowledge, will Amy and Dan trust Nellie again? They're running out of people to trust, and as they get closer to the truth behind the 39 clues, the danger keeps escalating. Without her help, they might end up dead, but would trusting her be more dangerous?I love this series. These are quick, engaging reads that I devour. I can't wait for the next book to see how this series ends; it's been an amazing ride. I love all the action, the danger, the many double-crossings, and watching the sibling relationship unfold.Reviewed by: Jennifer Rummel

By Steven R. McEvoy
With each new book in this series I am impressed again by the skill and talent of the contributors. Ten books by seven different authors in less than 3 years with one continuous story arc. The scope of the project, its ambitious timeline and pace alone are impressive, but to maintain continuity while switching authors every volume, I really did not think they could keep up the pace. However not only have they done so, but as each author builds upon the last, it becomes a better and better story. In this volume some of the Cahill kids' worst suspicions are confirmed. Amy and Dan must face betrayal, heartache, fear and loss. They travel to the home of Pirates, where in both Bahamas and Jamaica they must find new clues. And the competition is getting more desperate. For some reason Amy and Dan have a knack for figuring things out that no one else has. And the other families are not only frustrated but becoming more and more dangerous. This book races along, and as new things are discovered, new fears and new hopes arise for Amy and Dan, and maybe for all of mankind. Another excellent read in an amazing series.
